Comments & Mentions
Discuss work and mention people, Issues, Features and Initiatives.
Comments connect discussion to the work. Typing @ lets you choose a person,
Issue, Feature or Initiative that is available to you.
Mention work Admin Editor Viewer
You need permission to comment in the discussion and read the item you mention. You do not need to edit that item or belong to its Team. Only readable items appear in suggestions. Requirements Management objects are outside this picker.
Readers who can access the mentioned item see its current title and link. Other readers see Restricted item without a link or private details. Mentioning an item or forwarding its link never gives someone access.
Mention a person Admin Editor Viewer
Choose someone who can read the containing discussion. A person may receive a mention even when the discussion policy does not allow them to reply.
Issue discussion policy
Public Teams initially allow anyone with Issue access to comment. Private Teams initially allow Team members and the original reporter. Authorized Team settings managers can change Issue comments under the Team's Access and permissions. Every commenter still needs Issue access, and archived or deleted Issues keep their restrictions. Commenting does not grant permission to change properties.
The original reporter can keep commenting after triage while they retain access. For private Issues, an authorized person must explicitly share the Issue with an outside reporter. Revoking access also removes commenting access.
