Overview
Comments keep discussion with the Issue. Comment permission is separate from editing permission: it depends on current Issue access, the Team's comment policy, and whether the Issue is active.
Public Teams default to allowing anyone with Issue access to comment. Private Teams default to Team members and the original reporter. A Team settings manager can change that policy.
Post a comment
- Open the Issue's Activity area.
- Write in the comment composer.
- Use the submit control to post it.
If posting fails, the draft stays in the composer. You can mention eligible people and accessible Issues, Projects, and Initiatives. Readers without access to a mentioned private object see Restricted item.
Select comment text to open its formatting toolbar. Use it for bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, inline code, and links. Choose Edit link to add or change a destination, Remove link to keep the text without its link, or Open link to visit it. You can also Ctrl-click on Windows or Command-click on macOS to open an ordinary link.
With text selected in a paragraph, press Tab to reach the toolbar. Ctrl + A / ⌘ + A first selects the current comment block; press it again to select the entire comment. Ctrl + Enter / ⌘ + Enter posts the comment; plain Enter starts a new paragraph.
Comment file attachments and invoking an agent by mentioning it are (coming soon).
Edit or manage a comment
Open the comment's … menu. Authors can edit or delete their own comments; authorized moderators can delete or restore comments when policy permits. History records changes. Deleting a parent comment leaves a placeholder so its replies remain understandable.

Link to a comment
Choose Copy link in a comment or reply's … menu. Opening the link shows the Issue, scrolls to that comment, opens its thread even when it is resolved, and highlights it. A deleted comment keeps its Comment deleted placeholder, so its link still opens that spot. If the comment no longer exists, the Issue shows that the referenced Activity item is no longer available. People who cannot open the Issue cannot see it or its comments through the link.
Threads
- Open the replies beneath a comment.
- Write and submit your reply there.
- Choose Follow thread or Mute thread in the first comment's … menu to control that thread's notifications. See thread subscriptions; these controls are available only on active Issues.
Resolve threads
Resolve a finished discussion from its controls. Resolved threads remain in history and can be reopened when needed. Anyone who can see the Issue can resolve or reopen its threads, including people who cannot edit the Issue. Archived and deleted Issues, and Issues of an archived Team, are read-only, so their threads cannot be resolved or reopened.
Summaries (coming soon)
Automatic discussion summaries are not available. Add a short comment recording the decision instead.

Resolving a thread does not currently generate an AI summary.
Emoji react to issues and comments
Use a comment or reply's reaction control to acknowledge it. Reactions update without sending Inbox notifications. Reactions on the Issue description itself and custom emoji uploads are (coming soon).
Inline comments on descriptions (coming soon)
Text-anchored discussion inside an Issue description is not available. Quote the relevant passage in an Activity comment instead.
