Use templates
Choose an Issue template, set Team defaults, replace placeholders, and filter by the template used.
Choose a template
Open New issue and select the Team. Open the New issue ▾ control in the dialog breadcrumb to choose an active template. Once selected, the template's name replaces that label; select it to switch templates or choose Clear template. For non-member intake, the initial breadcrumb says Submit issue for review.
You can also press Alt + C outside a text field to open the dialog with its template picker open. The picker is available when the selected Team has usable templates. It includes workspace templates, that Team's templates, and inherited parent Team templates you can access.
A Standard template fills the draft. Review its title, description, properties, and sub-issues, then edit or remove anything that does not fit before selecting Create. A Form template displays its questions.
Switching or clearing a template replaces the current template draft, including its answers and sub-issues. Clearing restores the empty composer. Changing Team clears the selected template and its values, then considers the new Team's default. Choose the Team and template before writing your Issue.
When creating a sub-issue, the picker only offers templates without their own sub-issues. Templates are not available in bulk creation, meeting action creation, or a composer opened for a recurring Issue.
Set Team defaults
In Team Settings → Templates, use Default for Team members and Default for non-members above the Issue templates list. You need that Team's settings management access. Choose an available template or No template to clear a default.
The member default accepts Standard templates only. The non-member default accepts Standard or Form templates. Available choices include workspace templates, the Team's own templates, and accessible inherited templates.
The matching default fills a fresh, empty composer for that Team. It does not overwrite a draft you have already started. Defaults are optional: the creator can always switch or clear one. Archiving a template clears defaults that use it; restoring it does not set them again.
Replace placeholders
While editing a template description, use the editor's Placeholder control to mark prompt text. In a Standard template draft, this text appears grey. Type into it to replace the prompt with your own words. Untouched placeholder text is removed when you create the Issue; the text you typed is kept.
Placeholders are guidance, not required questions. Use a Form with required questions when the creator must answer something. The Placeholder control appears only while editing a template.
Submit from outside the Team
A workspace member outside the selected Team follows the Team's existing Triage intake rules. A template does not grant direct Issue creation or access to the Team's private work. The Team must allow that person to submit an Issue.
For these submissions, template property defaults and sub-issues are skipped, with a notice when the template includes them. Title and description are retained. Explicit form answers for Priority, Labels, and Due date still set those properties on the Triage Issue. This is different from default values saved on the template, which are skipped.
The submission waits for the Team's normal Triage decision. There is no Template filter in Triage; use an ordinary Issue view after acceptance. A form submission's read-only Form submission section and its form Activity text also appear after acceptance.
Filter by template
In an Issue view, open Filter → Template. Use is any of to include Issues made from selected templates, is none of to exclude those templates, or No template to find Issues created without one. Archived templates remain available by name.
The filter records which template created an Issue. Editing its description or later editing or archiving the template does not change that association. You can save the filter in a view; saved-view notifications follow it too.
If you lose access to a template used in a saved view, you can remove that filter choice. Integrity refuses to narrow the view further while the unavailable choice remains. Remove it before making that change. Agents can use the Template filter in Issue views under the same access rules.
