Archive and delete Issues

Use Team archive pages, recoverable deleted Issues, restore, permanent delete, and direct-share lifecycle behavior.

Team archive pages keep inactive or recoverable Issue work out of active Team lists without losing the evidence trail.

To act on several Issues, select their checkboxes (or use the header checkbox for all visible rows), then open Actions. Archived Issues support Unarchive and Delete; Deleted Issues support Restore and Permanently delete. Confirm the operation before it runs. Every selected Issue must allow the action, and the batch succeeds or fails together.

Bulk delete includes descendants. Bulk restore also restores Issues deleted in the same cascade to their previous active or archived state. Permanent deletion removes normal recovery and requires the existing Team owner or workspace administrator permission.

Open a Team archive

You need Team-member access to an active Team to open its Archived Issues and Deleted Issues pages. Workspace membership or public Team visibility alone does not grant archive access. If access is unavailable, the page explains the restriction; a failed load shows a retry action.

Open a Team, use the top-bar actions menu, and choose Open archive. The archive page is Team-scoped and has two active Issue tabs:

  • Archived Issues for manually archived Issues and Issues moved by Team auto-archive.
  • Deleted Issues for recoverably deleted Issues inside the 30-day retention window.

Archive tables use the same Issue table grammar as active Team Issues, with fixed columns for Issue, Status, Assignee, lifecycle actor, and lifecycle date. Filters are available for supported Issue properties; display options and grouping controls are intentionally absent.

Automatic archive

Team auto-archive is configured from Team settings -> Issue Workflows. When enabled, it moves eligible completed or canceled Issues into Archived Issues after the selected window. Parent Issues with active descendants are skipped.

Auto-archive uses the same lifecycle behavior as manual archive: the Issue leaves active lists, remains readable to authorized Team readers in the archive, records workflow activity, and suspends direct-share-only access until the Issue is unarchived.

Delete and restore

Deleting an active Issue is recoverable. After confirmation, the Issue leaves active Team lists, My Issues, Feature Issue tables, and active payloads immediately. The success toast links to the Team's Deleted Issues tab when Integrity knows the Team route.

The Team Issues Actions panel can delete a compatible active selection as one recoverable batch. Mixed read-only, restricted, archived, or deleted selections are not partially applied; see Select and bulk-update Issues.

Deleted Issues remember where they came from:

  • An Issue deleted from active work restores to active work.
  • An Issue deleted from the archive restores to Archived Issues.

Parent and sub-issue behavior

Deleting a parent with active descendants presents a hierarchy choice. Deleting only the selected Issue detaches surviving children to the top level. Deleting the hierarchy recoverably marks the eligible descendants with one cascade batch and root, while preserving any Issue that was already deleted independently.

During restore, you can rebuild the eligible parent chain or restore the selected Issue at the top level. Integrity restores only the rows that belong to the matching cascade and never revives an independently deleted descendant. Hidden descendants and hidden counts are not disclosed in confirmation copy or progress summaries. See Issue hierarchy and sub-issues.

Deleted Issue detail pages remain readable for authorized Team readers during retention. Normal Issue edits, property selectors, comments, subscriptions, and share management are disabled while an Issue is archived or deleted.

Permanent delete

Team owners and workspace admins or owners can permanently delete a recoverably deleted Issue. Permanent delete keeps the Issue number reserved, scrubs rich content, removes active relationships such as labels, Feature links, assignee, and direct shares, and leaves only display-safe retained metadata for references and audit evidence.

Permanent delete cannot be undone. Use it only for disposable Issues or when your Team has confirmed the Issue should no longer be recoverable.

Retention purge

Recoverably deleted Issues are eligible for automatic purge after 30 days. The purge uses the same permanent-delete conversion as manual permanent delete and records lifecycle audit evidence.

Direct shares

Direct shares are preserved as metadata while an Issue is archived or recoverably deleted, but direct-share-only recipients cannot open the hidden Issue or see it in My Issues > Shared until the Issue returns to active work. Restoring or unarchiving an Issue reactivates the preserved direct share when the share row is still active.

Direct-share-only private Issue rows keep private Team identifiers, names, slugs, routes, Feature context, and private projected keys hidden.
