Find Issues, Projects, Initiatives and Meeting Minutes by title, key or the words in their body.

Overview
Search finds work anywhere in your workspace without knowing which Team or list holds it. It covers Issues, Projects, Initiatives and Meeting Minutes, and matches their title, their key or slug, and the text of their own body.
Results only include work you can open. Items in a private Team you don't belong to, other people's personal Meeting Minutes and restricted Projects or Initiatives never appear, and they are not counted in any total.
Search from the command menu
Press ⌘ + K on a Mac or Ctrl + K elsewhere, then type a title or ID. Matching Issues, Projects and Initiatives appear alongside commands. See Command menu for the other commands.
Press Tab, or select Search workspace, to search all your work. Results appear as you type at least two characters, grouped as Issues, Projects, Initiatives and Meeting Minutes, with up to five of each. They match titles, keys and body text, like the Search page; a result found in its body is listed by its title. Press Enter to open the highlighted result.
Turn on Include archived in workspace search to add archived results. It starts off each time you open the command menu. An archived result opens its read-only page with Restore for permitted people.
To see every result with its matching text, select See all results or press ⌘ + Enter on a Mac or Ctrl + Enter elsewhere. The shortcut works in both command and Search mode. The Search page opens with the same words; an empty input opens Search ready for a new query. You can also open it at your workspace's /search address, such as /workspace/acme/search.
Use the Search page
The Search page works like Inbox: a column on the left holds the search and its results, and the result you select opens beside it. On a phone, the Search button in the sidebar opens this page directly.
Type at least two characters in the search field. Results appear as you type, and the field shows how many there are.
By default the list shows all types: up to 10 results of each, with Issues first, then Projects, Initiatives and Meeting Minutes. Each group heading shows how many matches of that type you can open. Select Show all beside a group to list every match of that type; longer lists load 50 at a time with Load more.
Each result shows the object's icon, its key or date, the title with your words highlighted, and a line of matching body text. Within a type, key matches come first, then title matches, then body matches, with the most recently updated first.
Filter the results
Select the filter icon beside the Search title to open the filter menu, as in Inbox. It works the same way on a phone, where the Teams are listed in the menu itself instead of in a side menu.
- Type shows one type at a time: All, Issues, Projects, Initiatives or Meeting Minutes. Each shows the exact number of matches you can open. Show all beside a group chooses its type for you.
- Team narrows the results to one or more Teams. It offers only Teams you can open. With a Team selected, Projects and Initiatives without a Team, personal Meeting Minutes and Issues shared directly with you are left out.
- Include archived adds archived work, which is hidden by default. Archived results are labelled. Deleted work in Trash never appears.
While a filter is on, the filter icon is highlighted and the filters show in a bar under the search field. Select the × on a filter to remove it, or + to open the same menu.
When nothing matches, the space beside the list says so and suggests other words, a key or Include archived. If a Type or Team filter hides every match, it says your filters hide every result and offers Clear filters, which removes them and keeps Include archived. On a phone, the same message appears in the list.
Open a result
Select a result to open its page beside the list. It is the same page you get from the object itself, so you can change its properties, edit its body, comment, switch its tabs and Issue views, and use its actions there, as far as your access allows. When you move through the results with the arrow keys, the page loads once you stop on a result.
Press Enter to go to the selected object's own page instead.
On a phone, the page shows the list only. Tap a result to open its page full screen, and tap Back to return to your results with your words kept.
Keyboard
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| ↑ and ↓ | Move through the results and open each beside the list |
| Enter | Go to the selected object's own page |
| Esc | Clear the search; in an empty field, clear the selection |
| Tab | Move to the filters that are on and the results |
Share a search
The page address keeps your words, the selected type, the Teams, Include archived, the selected result and the tab you opened on its page. Reloading the page or going back to it brings the same result and tab up again, and Back in your browser steps back through the tabs you opened. Copy the address to come back later or to share it. Someone who opens it sees only results they can open, any Team they can't open is removed from their filter, and the selected result's page applies its own access check.
What is searched
| Searched | Not searched |
|---|---|
| Issue keys and titles | Comments and attachments |
| Project and Initiative slugs, titles and descriptions | Supporting Documents attached to an object |
| Meeting Minute titles | Modules, Folders and Artefacts |
| The body of each Issue, Project, Initiative and Meeting Minute | Teams and people |
A title or key matches when it contains your words as typed. Body text matches when it contains every word you typed, in any order, and the last word may be the start of a longer word. For example, login bug finds a body that says "a bug in the login form".
Issues shared directly with you show as PRIVATE- with their number, without their Team. With Include archived on, archived Meeting Minute Notes are searched under the same read permissions as active Notes. Archived pages are read-only and do not allow comments. See Archive and delete for finding and restoring archived work.
