Phases on Issues
Assign Feature-linked Issues to Phases from create, detail, table, command, bulk, filter, and view surfaces.
An Issue can be assigned to one Phase from its current primary Feature. The assignment refines the Feature link; it does not replace the Issue's Team status, priority, Cycle, due date, estimate, or assignee.
Assign a Phase Admin Editor
First select the Issue's Feature, then choose Phase from:
- Issue create
- Issue detail properties
- Team, My Issues, Feature, and Cycle tables
- row and context menus
- the Issue command menu
- the selected-Issue Actions panel
When focus is not inside an editable field, press Shift+M to open the Phase picker in supported Issue contexts.
Changing the Feature clears an incompatible Phase assignment. A Phase from another Feature cannot be saved.
Create while assigning Admin Editor
When you can manage the selected Feature's Phases, the selector can create a missing Phase in place. The new stage belongs to the Feature and becomes available to its other linked Issues after the server confirms creation.
Filters, grouping, and views
Issue tables support:
- one or more selected Phases
- Current Phase
- No Phase
- grouping in Feature order
- Phase as a display property
Phase filters and grouping can be saved in Issue views. A copied Phase link opens the owning Feature's Issues table as a URL-owned contextual filter; it stays separate from normal saved/local draft filters until you explicitly save it as a view.
Bulk assignment is available only when every selected Issue is editable, active, and linked to the same Feature. One authorized batch changes the Issue rows, while Activity/audit evidence retains the correct per-Issue or aggregate event granularity.
Activity and privacy
Assignment, movement between Phases, and removal appear in Issue Activity with event-time Phase snapshots. Feature Activity receives aggregate Phase evidence but never stores a private-Team Issue title.
Private-Team and direct-share rules still apply. A Feature or Phase does not grant Issue access, hidden Issues do not contribute visible counts, and restricted references use generic display-safe copy.
Issue completion is informational progress only. Completing or reopening an Issue never changes the assigned Phase's lifecycle state. Use the Phase's Lifecycle state action when the stage itself is ready to move.
Phase assignment creates no Inbox, email, digest, unread, reminder, or saved-view subscription notification.
